Master in Business Analytics
Dr. William Torres was one of those who laid down the foundations of the internet in the country. He had informal negotiations with the U.S. National Science Foundation in 1992. The Philippines was finally connected to the Internet on March 29, 1994. Currently teaching at the Mapúa’s School of Information Technology, Dr. Torres graduated as a gold medalist in Mapúa in 1955 with a degree of BS Mechanical Engineering. He was granted a US Fulbright Scholarship to study Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin and eventually finished his PhD in Computer Science from the same institution. To add to that, he was the first PhD graduate of Computer Science among Filipinos.
Prof. Rex Aurelius C. Robielos is the current Dean of the School of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. He is currently taking his PhD in Industrial Management from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Taiwan. He graduated with a diploma and Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and his Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics (Operations Research) from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños. Prof. Robielos is a director of the Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers, Treasurer of the Operations Research Society of the Philippines and Secretary of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society-Philippines.
Dr. Larry A. Vea is a graduate of PhD in Computer Science from the Ateneo de Manila University. He finished his Master in Science in Computer Science from De La Salle University in Manila and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte. Dr. Vea spent 16 years teaching in his alma mater, Mariano Marcos State University, before transferring to Mapua as a professor handling Computer Science courses.
Sonny Halili is regarded by many as the “Father of Commercial Analytics in the Philippines”. He has over 30 years of corporate experience having worked with prestigious companies like SGV, Andersen Consulting, Digital Equipment, Unisys, Informix, Oracle and SAS. He has worked with various customers in financial services, telecommunications, public sector, retail, manufacturing, gaming and energy. In early 2000’s, he introduced advanced analytics in the Philippines. In a few years, he increased the adoption of analytics in business by multitudes such that by mid-2000, he was the first to set up an Analytics Center of Excellence in partnership with academe to supply the growing demand for data scientists in the Philippines and worldwide.
Jose Albert Llamas has more than 30 years of relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services and Information Technology with extensive knowledge in managing business units and corporate operations. He is presently holding a regional post with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (Tokyo, Japan), in the automotive financing business for the East Africa and Southeast Asia Region since 2013.
He also has a strong business development and leadership experience having become the First Vice President for Operations and Technology of Toyota Financial Services, Executive Vice President and COO for a local Toyota Dealership, Country Manager for Financial Services of Seimens Nixdorf Systems and Regional Manager for SPL Worldgroup Software. In addition, he also became Project Director for SAS Institute (Phils.) for technology projects in Globe Telecom and GSIS.
Prior to these, Mr. Llamas worked for the following banks: Citibank, Citifinancials, Asia United Bank, Bank of the Philippine Islands and BA Finance Corp (An Affiliate Bank of America).
Simon Calasanz is the President and CEO of RCBC Bankard. A double degree graduate from DLSU majoring in Marketing and Psychology, Mr. Calasanz brings with him over sixteen (16) years of banking experience. He has handled challenging roles in the following areas: Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Contact Centre Management, Consumer Lending, Product Management, Credit Risk and Compliance, Fraud Detection, Management Information Systems and Operations. His last 2 roles with the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation were as concurrent Head of Sales and Contact Centre Management and Head of Cards and Consumer Assets. He also performed significant roles for the Credit Card Association of the Philippines, Bancnet and Credit Management Association of the Philippines, previous positions were as President/Chairman, Director, and Director/Committee Member, respectively. He continues to hold a position in the Card Association as Special Advisor to the Board of Directors, and is a regular speaker in universities on financial literacy.
Lilia C. Guillermo is the Undersecretary of the Information and Communications Technology Group of the Department of Budget and Management. She spearheads I.T. innovations at the DBM where she was given the responsibility of managing and developing systems needed for the modernization of the Public Financial Management Program (PFM). She was formerly the Deputy Commissioner of the BIR where she became Project Director of the biggest I.T. project in government, the World Bank-assisted “Tax Computerization Project”.
In July 2003, she was recipient of an award “One of the most powerful women in I.T. in the Philippines”. She is currently the President of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) Forum, an organization of all CIOs in government. She also received a First-prize award in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Digital Opportunity Center (ADOC) competition on Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS) of the BIR in August 5, 2005. In 2008-2010 she served as technical adviser in the Automated Election System (AES) for 2010 National and Local Elections. For three months April – June, 2006 she was seconded to the Asian Development Bank as an Information & Communications Technology Expert to Kyrgyz Republic to conduct a technical mission on the modernization of their Revenue Administration.
Ms. Guillermo is a graduate of Bachelor of Science degree major in Statistics in 1977 and received an M.S. Industrial Engineering degree in 1981 both from the University of the Philippines.
Marita Bueno is the head of the Data Science and Analytics Group at RCBC. She has over 24 years of professional experience gained from local and multinational banks institutions including: Union Bank of the Philippines where she was Data Science and Analytics Group Head; Citibank N.A. (New York, Singapore and Hong Kong) under various roles including Regional Director/Credit Products Analytics Head (Singapore), Regional Risk Management Chief of Staff (Hong Kong), and Vice President with various functions (New York); and JP Morgan Chase, New York as Vice President in Small Business Financial Services and Retail Risk Management. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. John’s University in New York where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 1991. She finished her Master of Business Administration on Quantitative Analysis from the same university in 1994.
Deepak Ramanathan in his role as Chief Technology Officer has been advising customers across the region on their analytical strategies. Now in his 13th year at SAS, Deepak works with customers across industries in identifying business issues which could benefit from an analytical outlook and helps these organizations in rolling out these analytical solutions. Deepak also serves as an analytical evangelist, familiarizing customers with analytical lifecycles, support structures for deploying, maintaining these initiatives and developing an ecosystem which would sustain the analytics
Deepak current area of focus is around High Performance Analytics and Big Data Analytics, working with clients to build use cases and deploying it within the organization. He has been working with customers in Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail and Loyalty Optimization and Communications industries to identify and build the appropriate business cases.
Deepak is based in Singapore and has been working with customers across the Asia Pacific region for the last 8 years in what has been a thoroughly enjoyable and learning experience.
With vast experience in SAS analytics spanning a career of over 30 years, Dr. James Sattler is an expert in the field of analytics. His expertise has been gained in the government, pharmaceutical, banking and telecommunications industries. Some of his notable work involved clinical trials analysis for drug development in the pharmaceutical industry while he worked extensively in risk management and fraud detection for a large US Bank.
In addition to being a consultant, Dr. Sattler is a trainer for SAS foundation courses in the Philippines, Singapore and the Middle East. Dr. Sattler was also previously a university lecturer for the University of California in the course of SAS programming, in which he designed the curriculum.
Kadir Dindar is currently the head of Digital Business at Siemens. He was an international consultant in the field of Customer Intelligence and was the former Head of the Global Practice Customer Intelligence at SAS. In this capacity, he lead a global team of subject matter experts and thought leaders in the are of CRM and Data-Driven-Marketing. He advises international companies on key issues for modern, value-oriented customer management with the aim of sustainable and profitable growth. This work focuses on adapting information and decision-making processes to the requirements of a radically changing market structure and customer behavior. The main areas of activity are developing strategies for corporate management, dovetailing processes for sales, service and marketing, and optimizing customer interactions in an Omni-Channel environment.
Previously, Kadir Dindar spent many years as Head of Center of Excellence EMEA and AP, an Head of the Customer Intelligence Competence Center at SAS Germany, successfully implementing numerous large-scale projects, both national and international. Before he joined SAS he worked as Senior Business Development Manager at Chordiant Software and as Head of Direct Marketing at Deutsche Telekom, and also gained experience in classical marketing at companies such as the German airline Lufthansa.
Pamela Morales-Cabudoy has 19 years of solid experience in Business Analytics. She graduated at the top of her class with a degree in B.S. Statistics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She is currently serving as Director for Advanced Analytics, Enterprise Data Office in Globe Telecom and was the Solutions and Practices Director at SAS Institute Philippines. Ms. Morales-Cabudoy is experienced and passionate about building a world-class, center of excellence team of talents in the areas of Information Management, Analytics, Risk Intelligence and Customer Intelligence, finding the right solution to solve business problems through data and analytics, cross-industry and evangelizing innovative ways of using analytics through thought leadership.
Sheel Priyadarshi has over 20 years of experience in the Information Technology Industry having very strong Big Data, Data warehouse and end to end Data Management and Solution Architecture exposure, both in Pre-Sales and Delivery capabilities. He had co-authored a DWH methodology for faster deployments of Analytical Solutions for customers in Telco and Banking space.
Sheel had the privilege to work in some of the key roles in Big Data and Analytics space with companies like Oracle, Teradata and CSC prior to Joining Cloudera as a Strategic Sales Architect, where he is currently working. His career focus so far has been centred on Integrating, Understanding and Analytically looking at huge amount of information available within customers’ operational environments with comprehensive hands-on expertise in data warehouse, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Data Integration and MDM architecture definition and deployments.
He has had the privilege to work across a range of domain verticals such as Banking, Telco, Insurance, FMCG, Government and Construction and across multiple DBMS’s and platforms which provided him a strong aptitude for crafting Data Management Stragegies and Vision Roadmap for customers.
Seth D. Daradar has 18 years of experience in the areas of solution planning and project management in the fields of CRM and Customer Intelligence. He is currently serving as Analytics Advocate for the Enterprise Data Office at Globe Telecom. Before joining Globe, he served as Assistant Vice President for Reports and Data Mining where he helped establish, promote, and ensure adoption of the business’ analytics and reporting roadmap and campaign management capability. He was also the Pre-Sales Customer Intelligence Lead of SAS Institute Philippines for 2 years after a 7 year stint as Sales & Operations in Capability Philippines - a local CRM and Analytics company. Seth has a degree in BS Commerce, major in Information Systems Management.
Dennis R. Vergara has over 20 years of management information system, business intelligence and analytics experience in the field of financial industry. He is currently the First Vice President and Head of Customer Analytics and Campaigns Division under the Marketing Group of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC).
He held positions in the area of retail banking, sales and operations, cash management, controllership, information technology, business intelligence competency center, change management and marketing.
Mr. Vergara has had an actual implementation of business analytics in the area of campaigns, risk, upsell and cross sell, predictive and prescriptive analytics, acquisition, churn and business model development. As an experienced analytics practitioner, he believes that the success factor of analytics implementation is measured by the return on investment, cost savings and enhanced business productivity.
Ajay Adikane is a co-founder of Inoventik, a data analytics firm specializing in providing business insights and strategies by leveraging on data. Prior to founding Inoventik, he was Senior Vice President at Bank of America Merrill Lynch responsible for driving transformation and increasing clients’ wallet share. A Banking and Digital transformation leader with more than 25 years of leading and developing transformation initiatives, participating in the digital strategies for a leading US Bank and one of the fortune 500 FMCG company. He has vast experience in running, conceptualizing and implementing digital factories, centers of excellence, Mobile of ces and a complete end-to-end digital enablement road-map. Ajay holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh USA and Bachelor of Technology in Electronic and Communication from National Institute of Technology – Calicut, India.
